Moorabool Shire

Moorabool Shire is a Local Government Area in Victoria, Australia. It is located in the south-western part of the state. It includes the towns of Bacchus Marsh and Ballan. It has an area of 2,112 square kilometres. In 2001 it had a population of 23,900. Other small population areas in the east are Balliang, Mount Wallace and Myrniong, in the centre Blackwood, Greendale, Gordon, Koorweinguboora and Mount Egerton and to the west Bungaree, Elaine and Wallace.

The shire was formed in the 1990s by the amalgamation of the Shires of Bacchus Marsh, Ballan and parts of the Shires of Bungaree and Werribee.
